Ogun Police Busts Cameroonian Kidnapping Syndicate Masquerading As Visa Agents
The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled a Cameroonian syndicate notorious for luring and kidnapping unsuspecting victims under the guise of facilitating foreign visa applications.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the operation followed a distress call received on November 4, 2025, from a Cameroonian woman who had been deceived into Nigeria with the promise of securing a Canadian visa.
The victim told police that she was brought into the country on September 29, 2025, by one Donald, a fellow Cameroonian, who received her at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. She was then transported to Mowe, Ogun State, where she and her 23-year-old sister were held hostage in a two-bedroom apartment by the syndicate.
Odutola said the complainant managed to escape on November 3 and alerted the Anti-Kidnapping Unit at Eleweran, Abeokuta, leading to a swift rescue operation at the syndicate’s hideout in the Pakuro area of Mowe.
Police operatives rescued another female victim, identified as Kengne Maeva, unhurt and arrested two suspects — Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen — while the alleged ringleader, Donald, remains at large.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims’ relatives in Cameroon had paid a ransom of 3.6 million CFA francs into the suspect’s bank account before her escape.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., has ordered heightened surveillance and directed tactical commanders to work with community leaders and CDA chairmen, particularly in remote areas, to report suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments without due process.
Odutola reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that “criminal elements find no safe haven in Ogun State,” assuring residents that the police will sustain efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
