Lagos VIS Trains Senior Officers to Build Public Trust, Enhance Professionalism
The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) has organized a three-day leadership and capacity-building workshop for its senior officers and zonal heads as part of efforts to enhance professionalism, empathy, and public trust in service delivery.
The workshop, themed “Behind the VIO Badge: Transforming Perceptions, Building Trust,” was held in collaboration with the Civility Institute of Nigeria. It focused on equipping officers with modern leadership techniques, emotional intelligence, and ethical communication skills.
Speaking at the event, the Director of VIS, Engr. Akin-George Fashola, described the training as a major milestone in the agency’s reform agenda aimed at rebuilding public confidence in the VIS brand.
He emphasized the need for officers to consistently uphold civility and professionalism in their daily interactions with the public.
“We want our officers to be ambassadors of safety, discipline, and integrity. This programme reinforces the values that define our identity behind the uniform,” Fashola stated.
He explained that the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to reposition VIS as a people-centered institution, stressing that the Lagos State Government remains committed to developing a disciplined, responsive, and service-driven workforce within the transport management sector.
