Ogun Economy Quadruples to ₦16 Trillion In Six Years — Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced that the state’s economy has quadrupled over the past six years, growing from ₦3.5 trillion to ₦16 trillion.

The governor also disclosed that Ogun has secured an investment pledge estimated between $1.8 billion and $2.5 billion.

Abiodun made the revelations when he received the Strategic Adviser of Mac Group, Fayad Fayad, and the firm’s Public Relations and Communication Officer, Hassan Fayad, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Highlighting Ogun’s growth in economic development, infrastructure, basic amenities and tourism, Abiodun said the state is now “one of the two best-performing states in Nigeria” and “the fastest-growing economy in the country.”

He pointed to the transformation of the state’s flagship tourist attraction, Olumo Rock, as an example. “Olumo Rock now generates about ₦20 million every week after its renovation, compared to the same amount generated yearly before the turnaround,” he said, noting that the surge in visitors shows the potential of well-maintained tourist sites to create alternative revenue streams.

The governor commended Mac Group for choosing Ogun as an investment destination in tourism, hospitality and recreation, stressing that the state offers a conducive business environment, large land mass, robust infrastructure and skilled human capital.

Responding, Fayad Fayad said Mac Group’s planned investment — valued between $1.8 billion and $2.5 billion — would focus on hospitality and entertainment.

“We are very proud to initiate this project. It is between the range of $1.8 billion to $2.5 billion. Very soon, you will hear very good news. We have presented an initiative to His Excellency about having a Disneyland resort within Ogun State — the first in Africa. It’s a huge project for entertainment and tourism, with parks, hotels and water attractions,” Fayad said.
