The Ondo State Contributory Health Commission (ODCHC) has released its second-quarter 2025 scorecard, highlighting significant milestones in medical service delivery across the state.
According to the report, a total of 18,242 visits were recorded under the Orange Health Insurance Scheme (ORANGHIS), with malaria topping the list of the most utilized services at 9,121 cases. Other leading conditions include upper respiratory tract infections (3,387), hypertension (2,968), and lower respiratory tract infections (2,192).
The Commission also reported that 504 enrollees changed facilities during the period, while 1,462 new members were added to the scheme. Currently, ODCHC has 311 health providers, comprising 68 under ORANGHIS, 9 under Abiyamo, 203 BHCPFP providers, and 31 community pharmacies.
On facility performance, the State Specialist Hospital, Oke-Aro, Akure recorded the highest patient encounters with 2,825 visits, followed by the State Specialist Hospital, Ondo (2,032) and UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Ondo (1,859).
Under the maternal health-focused Abiyamo Scheme, there were 1,610 antenatal visits and 1,099 deliveries. Of these, 795 were spontaneous vaginal deliveries, while 304 were caesarean sections. The scheme also recorded 1,111 live births, 18 stillbirths, and 30 sets of twins.
Meanwhile, the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund Program (BHCPFP) accounted for 10,178 total visits, with 10,659 services utilized. The program’s utilization rate stood at -17.7%.
The scorecard further showed that communicable diseases dominated service utilization, with 15,410 cases, compared to 4,022 non-communicable cases. Other areas of care included obstetrics (412), surgical cases (510), and mental health (7).
In specialized services, the Commission recorded five MRI scans, while referrals were made to three diagnostic centres, optical centres, and dental clinics.
ODCHC reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to affordable healthcare for all residents of the state in line with the “OUR EASE” 7-point developmental agenda of the Aiyedatiwa-led administration.
