500 Households Benefit as Meranda Distributes Palliatives, Supports 100 Traders With Cash Grants
Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, on Thursday awarded scholarships to students in tertiary institutions and distributed food palliatives to indigent households in her constituency, Apapa 1.
The interventions were unveiled during the Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting held at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos. More than 500 households received food palliatives, while over 100 petty traders got financial support of ₦100,000 each.
In partnership with the Zenco Group of Companies, five students secured full scholarships for their tertiary education, and 200 holiday students graduated from a summer coding boot camp.
Speaking under the theme, “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Meranda described the initiative as timely and reflective of the government’s ongoing efforts to translate promises into action.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has given us a new national direction built on job creation, infrastructure renewal, education, healthcare, security and social inclusion,” she said. “Here in Lagos State, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and in alignment with the THEMES agenda, we have domesticated this vision. In Apapa Constituency 1, we are living witnesses to the dividends of this agenda.”
On employment and empowerment, Meranda noted that her office had facilitated opportunities for youths and residents through placements in TESCOM, LASTMA, the Neighbourhood Watch, the Lagos State Rail Mass Transit (Blue Line) and the Local Government Service Commission.
She also disclosed that extensive road rehabilitation projects would soon begin in partnership with the Lagos State Public Works Corporation. Roads earmarked for repair include Adele Road, Udegbunam Street, Payne Crescent, Ogedegbe Road, Eko Lane, Aromire Street, Ashanti Close, Freetown Road, Sapele Road, Jetty Road, Idugaran Road, Cameroun Road, Oniru Street, Olofin Road, Ijora Olopa Market Road and Julius Berger Road in Ijora GRA.
Reaffirming her commitment to education, healthcare and community enhancement, she added that borehole water projects had been facilitated across several communities to ensure access to clean water.
“My beloved constituents, I remain committed to walking this journey with you, shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart, until Apapa Constituency 1 stands not just as a model for Lagos but as a beacon of what the Renewed Hope Agenda can achieve across Nigeria,” she said.
The 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held simultaneously across all 40 constituencies represented in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
