In an effort to address the rising insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has convened a stakeholder engagement at El-Rufai Motor Park in Nyanya.
The engagement drew participants from security agencies, community leaders, transport unions, youth associations, and other grassroots groups.
Speaking at the engagement the Director of NOA, Mallam Issa-Onilu, represented by the Director of Community Safety, Awareness and Compliance, Barrister Theresa Nnalue, expressed the government’s concern over the rising insecurity in the FCT, noting that the Agency convened the engagement to raise awareness and foster collective action against the menace.
The Director said the FCT must set the standard not only in governance and development but also in safety, unity, and resilience, adding that it can only be achieved through the collective efforts of government agencies, civil society groups, community members, youth groups, and others.
In his remarks, the Head of Internal Security Service at the FCT Security Services Department, Mr. Olubiyi Sunday, commended all security agencies in the FCT for their relentless efforts in maintaining a safer and more secure territory, emphasising that the FCT Minister is actively overseeing the construction of police stations across all councils.
While delivering his keynote address, the Chairman of the Coalition of Road Safety NGOs in Nigeria, Prince Ache Ogu Julius, urged citizens to actively support security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities within their communities.
