Tinubu Urges Governors, Local Councils To Partner with FG On Agriculture, Tax Reforms For National Progress
President Bola Tinubu has urged governors and local council chairmen to work closely with the federal government to capitalize on emerging opportunities in agriculture, livestock, and tax reforms to advance Nigeria’s development.
In his 2025 New Year address to the nation, which he personally signed on Wednesday, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration.
He also commended the governors who have embraced initiatives like Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered public transport and the adoption of electric vehicles as part of Nigeria’s energy transition strategy.
He reassured state governments of the federal government’s continued support in implementing transformative policies.
Reflecting on the past year, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians, including high food and essential drug prices, while highlighting significant economic progress.
He noted that fuel prices have gradually decreased, the Naira has strengthened, foreign reserves have risen, and Nigeria recorded foreign trade surpluses for three consecutive quarters.
The stock market’s performance has also added trillions of Naira to national wealth, bolstered by increased foreign investment.
Looking ahead, Tinubu outlined key initiatives for 2025, including, Establishment of the National Credit Guarantee Company which he said aims at boosting access to credit for individuals and critical sectors, particularly underserved groups like women and youth.
National Values Charter: A campaign to promote patriotism, shared values, and cooperation between citizens and the government.
Youth Inclusiveness: Launch of the Youth Confab in the first quarter of 2025 to engage young people as active participants in nation-building.
Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reducing inflation from 34.6% to 15% and addressing the cost of living by enhancing food production and local manufacturing of essential goods.
“To achieve our goals, we must become better citizens, united in our devotion to Nigeria,” Tinubu stated, urging Nigerians to rise above divisions of politics, ethnicity, and religion.
The President expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and encouraging citizens to maintain their faith in Nigeria’s future

He wished Nigerians a happy and prosperous New Year, emphasizing that the sacrifices of the past months would yield lasting benefits in the journey toward national progress
