Somolu APC: A Political Campaign Built On Faith

Faith, unity and reconciliation took centre stage in Somolu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Somolu Federal Constituency Campaign Council brought together Christian and Muslim clerics, party leaders, candidates and stakeholders for an interfaith prayer session ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Rather than begin its campaign preparations with political speeches, the council turned to the pulpit and prayer mat, seeking divine guidance, wisdom and protection for its candidates and members. The clerics also prayed for a peaceful political atmosphere before, during and after the elections.
The gathering provided an opportunity for party stakeholders to reflect on the need for unity and peaceful coexistence as political activities gather momentum. Beyond the prayers, it also served as a platform for strengthening relationships among party members and preparing the campaign machinery for the task ahead.

The spiritual session was followed by the inauguration of Directors and Deputy Directors of various directorates of the Campaign Council. The exercise was designed to reinforce the campaign structure and position the different teams for coordinated activities as the 2027 elections draw closer.
In his welcome address, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Rotimi Olowo, appreciated party leaders, religious leaders, stakeholders and members for their support. He called for teamwork, patience, unity and synergy, stressing that the success of the campaign would depend on the ability of members to work together.
Olowo also acknowledged the APC candidates and members of the campaign team, describing the inauguration as an important milestone in consolidating the campaign structure. He urged members to remain committed to the collective interest of the party and the development of Somolu Federal Constituency.
The message of unity was echoed by the Vice Director-General of the Lagos East Senatorial District APC Campaign Council, Alhaji Bode Oyedele, who commended the peaceful political atmosphere in Somolu. Oyedele said he now had a positive report to take to the State Council on the peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship among political stakeholders in the constituency.

Former Somolu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sesan Olanrewaju, urged party members to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence. The Somolu Federal Constituency Apex Leader, Pastor Oyewusi, similarly appealed for continued harmony, saying acrimony among party stalwarts had ended and that members should remain united in the interest of the party.
For the candidates, the gathering was also an opportunity to seek continued support from the party structure. The APC candidate for the House of Representatives, Somolu Federal Constituency, Kolade Alabi, and the party’s candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Somolu Constituency I, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, thanked party leaders and stakeholders for their support and appealed for continued cooperation as campaign activities intensify.

The event ended with the inauguration of the campaign directorates and renewed appeals for support for APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 General Elections. Among those inaugurated were Hon. Olufemi Samuel Apata, Director, Mobilisation; Hon. Rasak Tajudeen, Deputy Director; Hon. Gbenga Abdullahi, Director, Planning and Strategy; Hon. Ifejowo Adeyemi, Director, Special Duties and Administration; Hon. Tolu Ebun, Director, Women Affairs; Chief Mrs. Fola Adekunle, Deputy Director, Women Affairs; Mr Kenneth Obi K.C, Director, Media and Communication; Com. Adewale Oseni, Deputy Director, Security; Dr Mike Dike, Director, Non-Indigene; and Hon. Fatai Komolafe, Director, Party Affairs.
