The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has won two awards at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards in Athens, Greece, for its work in artificial intelligence and crisis communication.
The awards, received in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), were in the Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management and Publication categories.
The recognition was for the Crisis Communication Hub initiative, backed by NITDA, which uses research and AI-driven tools to strengthen crisis communication, detect misinformation and deepfakes, and improve coordination among stakeholders during emergencies.
The awards were received at the Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens by Hajiya Hadiza Umar, representing NITDA, alongside Professor Yau Sule of IMPR.
NITDA said the recognition underscores its commitment to responsible AI deployment, digital literacy and technology-driven communication strategies in Nigeria.
