The National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN) has conferred its Senior Safety Advocate (SSA) title on the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola.
The National President of NISCN, Engr. John Obajimi, presented the award letter to Mojola, with the council citing his “visionary leadership, outstanding dedication and impactful contributions” to occupational health, safety and environmental standards in Lagos State and Nigeria.
The council described Mojola as the first recipient of the SSA title, noting that his leadership had strengthened proactive safety regulation, advocacy and institutional excellence.
Under Mojola, the Lagos State Safety Commission has implemented several initiatives covering workplace safety, emergency preparedness, public safety and risk management.
The commission introduced the 4Es safety framework — Evaluation, Education, Engagement and Enforcement — to improve risk identification, stakeholder awareness and regulatory compliance across formal and informal sectors.
It has also intensified safety interventions in the LPG sector, schools, construction sites, industrial facilities, event venues and other high-risk environments through inspections, training, risk assessments and enforcement.
The commission’s initiatives have further included CPR and first-aid training, fire-safety campaigns and emergency preparedness programmes, reinforcing its role in promoting a stronger safety culture across Lagos.
