The Edo State Government has begun repositioning the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, with Commissioner Felix Akhabue seeking staff support to strengthen land administration, urban planning and development control.
At his maiden meeting with the ministry’s management and staff at its headquarters in Benin City, Akhabue outlined plans to improve the built environment and align operations with the Governor’s SHINE Agenda.
Describing the ministry as critical to Edo’s development, he urged staff to be diligent, proactive and committed to enforcing planning regulations and building codes, saying their work was ultimately about creating a better environment for residents and future generations.
“When we develop Edo State, we are not developing it for the Governor but for ourselves and for the future,” Akhabue said.
He also requested accurate information and maximum cooperation from staff, assuring them that productivity challenges would be addressed.
The Permanent Secretary, Builder Joseph Nyamali, pledged management and staff support, while the Managing Director of the Edo State Development and Building Control Agency, Hon. Igabali Darlington Imoisili, urged workers to sustain their efforts.
The staff pledged to support Akhabue’s vision and improve service delivery across the ministry.
