Former House of Representatives Majority Leader, Hon. Mulikat Adeola Akande has urged Nigerians to support the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo in 2027, describing him as an opportunity for genuine change.
Speaking at the launch of Adebayo’s book, Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity: Governance and Accelerated Development – Blueprint of a New Nigeria, 2027–2031, Akande said the SDP’s size should not determine the quality of leadership it can produce.
She said Adebayo had presented clear policies and shown his commitment to transforming Nigeria, urging voters to focus on his plans rather than the party’s structure.
“Each time I hear the presidential candidate speak in public, I just pity Nigerians because it is so easy to see someone who can take you to the promised land,” she said.
Akande questioned why Nigerians would continue supporting leaders they blame for the country’s problems while ignoring an alternative, adding “He has told you his policies. He has told you what he can do”.
She urged SDP supporters to mobilise voters ahead of the election, stressing that the movement was about rescuing Nigeria, not individual ambitions.
“It is not about me. It is not about him. It is about the country,” she declared.
Akande warned that Nigerians could regret missing the opportunity for change in 2027.
