2027: Adebayo Unveils 5-Point Agenda For Nigeria, Pledges Jobs, Security, Stable Power Supply
The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has unveiled a five-point agenda for transforming Nigeria, promising to tackle insecurity, unemployment, low productivity, poor electricity supply and weak institutions if elected president in 2027.
Speaking during an interactive session with journalists and the Middle-Belt Forum, he criticised the Tinubu administration, saying economic growth figures are meaningless unless they improve jobs, living standards and opportunities.
Adebayo said Nigeria’s problems stem from weak institutions, poor accountability and government-enabled criminality, pledging to dismantle systems that support insecurity and reform the security architecture with stronger intelligence and community-based policing.
He rejected reliance on GDP figures, saying real progress should reflect productivity and citizens’ welfare. He proposed full employment, transparent revenue systems, decentralised production and a tax regime that supports wages and investments.
Adebayo said Nigeria’s untapped Middle Belt minerals could drive jobs and diversification if properly regulated, calling for an end to illegal mining.
On electricity, he proposed expanding generation to 50,000–75,000MW by 2050 through gas, solar and hydro, and restructuring the power sector for efficiency and reliability.
He said insecurity requires prevention, not just reaction, and promised stronger institutions and economic opportunities to reduce crime.
Adebayo also pledged to engage the diaspora as key development partners in education, technology and trade.
The SDP says it is building momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, with its leadership urging stakeholders, especially in the Middle Belt, to support its “rescue mission” for Nigeria.
