LASU Signs Partnership Agreement With University of Illinois Chicago On Joint Research, Faculty Exchanges

 

Lagos State University (LASU) has strengthened its internationalisation drive with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), United States.

The agreement was formalised during a roundtable at the UIC School of Public Health in Chicago, bringing together both institutions to advance collaboration in education, research, and global health.

The LASU delegation was led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Babatunde Ogala (SAN), alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello; Governing Council members Mr. Towanu Abiodun Hundeyin and Professor Shaffideen Awuwo; and the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu.

Under the five-year agreement, both universities will collaborate on faculty and student exchanges, joint research, joint academic programmes, and the exchange of academic resources.

The Vice-Chancellor described the partnership as a key milestone in LASU’s internationalisation agenda, aligned with her vision of a globally competitive university, supported by the Governing Council. She also acknowledged the efforts of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, whose contributions were instrumental to the agreement.

The Pro-Chancellor expressed confidence that the partnership would open new avenues of collaboration and further strengthen LASU’s position as a leading university in Nigeria.

The agreement adds to LASU’s growing portfolio of international partnerships aimed at expanding global engagement and opportunities for staff and students.
