Truck Brake Failure Leaves 3 Injured On LASU-Isheri Road Crash 

 

Three people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on the LASU–Isheri Road at Iyana School, inward Igando, on Wednesday.

The crash involved a MACK flatbed truck, a Toyota Sienna and two commercial tricycles. LASTMA said preliminary findings showed the truck suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and hit the other vehicles.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA said its officers, who were on patrol in the area, quickly activated the agency’s emergency response and rushed to the scene.

The agency said its prompt intervention helped rescue trapped victims, prevent further crashes and restore traffic flow. It also worked with the Iba Police Division to evacuate the damaged vehicles and clear the scene.

Three occupants, one male and two females sustained fractures and were taken to El-Shaddai Hospital for treatment.

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, praised the swift response of the agency’s emergency personnel and urged motorists, especially drivers of articulated and heavy-duty vehicles, to inspect their vehicles properly before trips, with particular attention to braking systems.

He also advised motorists to obey traffic rules, drive carefully and report emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367.
