Lagos State University (LASU) has reaffirmed its commitment to entrepreneurship, innovation and skills development with the successful hosting of the 2026 edition of its annual ENT 312 Practical Entrepreneurship Exhibition and Fair at the Buba Marwa Auditorium Car Park, Ojo Campus.
The annual exhibition, which serves as the end-of-semester practical examination, featured innovative products, business ideas and vocational projects developed by 300-level undergraduate students from the Ojo and Ikeja campuses during the 2025/2026 academic session.
The exhibition showcased the practical competencies students acquired through the University’s entrepreneurship programme.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Ayo Ayodele, said the rapidly evolving global economy requires graduates who are innovative, adaptable and equipped with practical skills.
He noted that LASU remains committed to producing entrepreneurs, innovators and problem-solvers through sustained investment in experiential learning, modern skills acquisition facilities and industry-relevant entrepreneurship education.
Professor Ayodele highlighted key achievements of the current administration, including the construction of twin Skills Acquisition Workshop buildings, the decentralisation of the annual entrepreneurship exhibition to the Epe Campus, and the procurement of industry-standard equipment through interventions by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to strengthen practical training across various vocational disciplines.
In his welcome address, the Director of the Directorate of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE), Professor Habeeb Sanni, described the exhibition as a celebration of creativity, innovation and resilience.
He said LASU’s entrepreneurship curriculum equips students with practical and entrepreneurial skills while positioning them to benefit from entrepreneurship initiatives under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
This year’s exhibition featured innovations across 36 entrepreneurial and vocational skill areas, including information technology, renewable energy, agribusiness, leatherwork, fashion design, graphic design, digital marketing, printing, branding and several other commercially viable ventures.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Awards of Excellence by the Directorate of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship to principal officers of the University in recognition of their outstanding leadership and support for entrepreneurship education.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, received a special award for her visionary leadership in advancing entrepreneurship across the institution.
Other recipients included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin; the Registrar, Emmanuel Abiodun Fanu; the Bursar, Said Babatunde Olayinka; the University Librarian, Dr Omawumi Orogbomisan Makinde; and the Director of Internal Audit, Mrs Margaret Iyabo Ogunkoya.
In recognition of her transformative leadership, the Vice-Chancellor was also presented with a commemorative framed portrait and a customised photographic album documenting the infrastructural development and institutional transformation recorded during her administration.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, attended the event on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor to demonstrate the University’s support for the Directorate.
Following the opening ceremony, students, grouped according to their various vocational skills, were assessed by examiners based on the quality, innovation and commercial viability of their products.
The 2026 ENT 312 Practical Entrepreneurship Exhibition and Fair once again underscored LASU’s commitment to nurturing innovation, enterprise and graduate employability, reinforcing its position as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions for entrepreneurship education.
