Cape Verde made history by reaching the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup on their debut after a goalless draw with Saudi Arabia secured second place in Group H.
The Blue Sharks finished on three points, edging Uruguay and Saudi Arabia to book a place in the Round of 32, where they will face defending champions Argentina at Miami Stadium on Friday, July 3.
Cape Verde were the better side throughout, with Willy Semedo and Kevin Pina both going close, while Saudi Arabia lost defender Hassan Al Tambakti to injury in the first half.
Laros Duarte was denied late on by Mohammed Al Owais, but the draw was enough to spark jubilant celebrations.
The result made Cape Verde only the third African nation to reach the World Cup knockout stage unbeaten, capping a remarkable debut.
