Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz are confident they have what it takes to defeat Nigeria’s Super Eagles when both teams clash in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup on Saturday in England.
The Reggae Boyz secured their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over India on Wednesday, while Nigeria booked their spot after defeating Zimbabwe by the same scoreline a day earlier.
Speaking ahead of the title decider, Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid revealed that his team had studied Nigeria’s performance against Zimbabwe and would make the necessary tactical adjustments.
“We saw them play on Tuesday night. We’ll do some more analysis of what they will be doing, and then we will decide if we need to change anything,” Speid said.
While acknowledging the quality of the Super Eagles, the Jamaican tactician insisted that every team has weaknesses that can be exploited.
“They are very, very good, but every team is beatable. We have to be aware of what they bring, and we also have some qualities of our own. Jamaica is still in a rebuilding stage with lots of young players. In football these days, nobody is a winner before the game is played. That’s where we are right now,” he stated.
Saturday’s encounter will be a repeat of the 2025 Unity Cup final, where the Super Eagles defeated Jamaica 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time.
Speid, however, is hoping for a different outcome this time around.
“We always look forward to playing Nigeria. Last year was very exciting because it ended 2-2. This year, I hope we’ll get a better result against them,” he added.
The Unity Cup final is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Charlton Athletic’s home ground, The Valley, in London, England.
