Alimosho: Allow Constituency 2 To Complete Its Turn In House of Representatives- Awori Indigienes Tell APC
The Awori Concerned Citizens (ACC) in Alimosho Federal Constituency in Lagos State, on Wednesday, called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to uphold justice, transparency, and fairness by respecting the outcome of the primary election and protecting the mandate overwhelmingly given to Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba.
The Awori indigienes condemned what it described as alleged attempts by certain interests within the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deny Ayuba his victory in the recently conducted House of Representatives primary election in the constituency.
They reiterated that the mandate secured by Ayuba represents the collective aspiration of the people and must be protected in the interest of justice, inclusiveness, democratic integrity, and the continued unity of Alimosho Federal Constituency.
In a statement by the leader of the group and head of all Awori community youth leaders (Olori-Odo), Chief Akinwande Ganiyu, the ACC described Ayuba’s emergence as the first time in the current political dispensation that an indigene of Awori extraction would emerge as the party’s candidate to represent Alimosho Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Ganiyu stated that the Olori-Odo Awori Parapo and the Awori Concerned Citizens have consistently supported progressive governance, noting that Ayuba secured a landslide victory with 37,021 votes against his closest rival, Hon. Olabisi Adebajo, who polled 2,793 votes in the primary election.
The group maintained that any attempt to overturn or frustrate the mandate freely given to Ayuba would amount to an assault on justice, fairness, equity, and the long-standing political understanding within the constituency.
The Awori indigienes recalled that Alimosho Federal Constituency has, over the years, maintained a peaceful rotational arrangement between Constituency 01 and Constituency 02 in the House of Representatives.
They further noted that previous representatives from Constituency 01 who benefited from the arrangement were allowed to complete their constitutionally permitted two terms in office without interference. It argued that, in the spirit of equity and justice, Constituency 02 should also be allowed the same opportunity without political manipulation.
According to them, the arrangement has contributed significantly to political stability, unity, fairness, and peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in the constituency.
The Awori Indigienes also described the APC primary election held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as peaceful, credible, transparent, and widely accepted by party members and stakeholders across the constituency.
It added that the wide margin clearly demonstrated the confidence, acceptance, and popularity enjoyed by Ayuba among party members and leaders across Alimosho Federal Constituency.
The group warned against any attempt by individuals or groups to subvert the democratic process or deny the people their freely expressed choice, stressing that such actions could undermine unity, weaken confidence in internal democracy, create avoidable political tension within the constituency, and lead to political apathy.
