The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the International Data Center Authority (IDCA) have signed a strategic partnership to collaborate with local and international stakeholders on a large-scale national digital infrastructure programme aimed at transforming Nigeria into a fully integrated digital economy ecosystem.
Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, described the initiative as a defining moment in Nigeria’s economic transformation.
He said the partnership reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the country’s digital economy and data sovereignty agenda through investments in digital infrastructure, talent development, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and innovation-driven growth.
Chairman of IDCA, Mehdi Paryavi , said Nigeria has the potential to become one of Africa’s most impactful economies.
He noted that the initiative goes beyond a national project, describing it as a platform for long-term economic value creation through the integration of infrastructure, standards, investments, and policymaking.
Chief Research Officer at IDCA, Roger Struckhoff, said Nigeria was taking a decisive step towards becoming a regional digital powerhouse.
Also speaking, Global Head of Strategic Services and Head of Europe and Africa at IDCA, Solomon Edun, described the programme as a historic moment designed to translate vision into measurable outcomes through infrastructure deployment, investment attraction, and skills development.
Acting Director of Regulations and Compliance, Emmanuel Edet, emphasised the importance of nationally endorsed standards and enabling infrastructure in ensuring data security, regulatory consistency, and long-term sustainability.
