Chelle Reaffirms Commitment to Super Eagles Amid Exit Rumours

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has once again dismissed speculation about his future, assuring the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that he will honour the remainder of his contract.

The 48-year-old tactician has been linked with several coaching opportunities within Africa and beyond, following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Reports indicate that his representatives have initiated discussions for an improved contract that would include a significant pay rise and expanded responsibilities.

A top official confirmed the coach’s commitment, stating: “Eric has made it clear he will respect his contract with the NFF and has no intention of leaving before it expires.

“That’s a positive development, as leading the Super Eagles also enhances his profile. It’s a prestigious role that not many coaches have the opportunity to occupy.”

The former Mali national team coach is expected in Nigeria soon, where he will monitor the closing stages of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

His visit is aimed at identifying domestic players who could be invited to the squad for the Unity Cup scheduled to hold in London next month.

Chelle’s current contract runs until January 2027, with an option for a one-year extension.
