Lagos Lawmaker Hails Sanwo-Olu Over Badagry Power Project, Urges Action On Gbaji–Apa–Owode Road
The lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Bonu, has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to ensuring even development across the state following the commissioning of the Badagry West Electrification Project.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commissioned the project aimed at improving electricity supply in communities across the Badagry West axis.
While appreciating the initiative, Bonu urged the state government to also prioritise the construction of the Gbaji–Apa–Owode Road, which he described as another critical project needed in the area.
He expressed gratitude for the electrification of the three HC tower crossings, the rehabilitation of the 33KV distribution lines along the Gbaji–Seme and Owode–Apa corridors, and the connection of 51 transformer substations.
The lawmaker said the project marked the restoration of a vital social amenity that communities in Badagry West had long been deprived of.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Hamzat said the project represented a deliberate intervention by the state government to address longstanding electricity challenges in the Badagry axis.
According to him, the initiative aligns with the state government’s THEMES+ Development Agenda, particularly its commitment to expanding energy access and building resilient infrastructure that supports economic growth across Lagos State.
He added that the electrification project would improve power distribution along the Gbaji–Seme and Owode–Apa corridor, benefiting thousands of homes, shops and businesses, while assuring residents that the state government would collaborate with the Federal Government to speed up work on the Gbaji–Apa–Owode Road.
