Abiodun Unveils Iworo–Ogbogbo–Igbeba Road, Promises Two More Projects In Ijebu North-East
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commissioned the 5.2-kilometre Iworo–Ogbogbo–Igbeba Road in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area, pledging to deliver two additional road projects in the council before the end of the year.
Speaking at the ceremony, the governor said the newly completed road provides vital access to farmlands and fulfils a promise he made during his 2023 second-term re-election campaign.
He assured residents that the Central Mosque–Ilese to Benin–Sagamu Expressway would be prioritised, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure across the area.
Abiodun explained that the road links Ijebu North-East to Ijebu-Ode, easing the movement of farm produce to markets. He described it as a continuation of the Igbeba Road project commissioned last year, part of what he called the infrastructural emancipation of Ijebuland.
The governor recalled that the poor condition of roads in Ijebu-Ode previously discouraged commercial transport operators but noted that improved infrastructure has now attracted private companies willing to provide taxi services across the region.
He also appreciated Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for states to execute impactful projects, adding that his administration would continue to focus on visible and measurable development.
A House of Representatives member representing Odogbolu, Ijebu-Ode and Ijebu North-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo, commended the governor’s infrastructural drive, while the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, described the project as evidence of unprecedented development in the state.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, said the reconstructed road now features reinforced concrete drainage for durability and improved connectivity. Traditional rulers, including Oba Oluremi Obayomi and Oba Asebisi Onafunwa, praised the project and called for further road upgrades and solar-powered streetlights to enhance security.
