Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has rewarded Mr. Solanke Francis Taiwo, a primary school teacher at Ansa-Ur-Deen Main School I, Kemta Lawa, Abeokuta, with a two-bedroom bungalow for emerging as the Overall Best Primary School Teacher in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 session.
The governor also presented him with the keys to a brand-new car donated by the Federal Government. Earlier, the award-winning teacher received a ₦50 million cash prize at the National Teachers’ Summit in Abuja in recognition of his dedication and excellence.
The presentation took place at the governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in the presence of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Oloko.
Governor Abiodun disclosed that the bungalow would be allocated to Mr. Solanke in any location of his choice under the State Housing Scheme. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained investment in education through teacher training, workshops, digitisation initiatives, and AI-powered learning platforms.
Speaking with journalists, Prof. Arigbagbu described the feat as proof of the impact of the state’s ongoing education reforms. He noted that Ogun teachers have consistently excelled in national competitions, adding that Mr. Solanke had previously won the Best Teacher Award in October.
The commissioner attributed the achievement to the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda, which focuses on curriculum development, school management, technology and innovation, infrastructure, funding, and the welfare of students and teachers.
He said the consistent national recognition of Ogun teachers and students shows that the reforms are yielding measurable results, stressing that the administration would sustain efforts to maintain the state’s leading position in education. He also highlighted the state’s dominance in JETS competitions and growing interest from other states in its TVET and digitisation model.
In his remarks, Mr. Solanke expressed gratitude to the governor for promoting excellence in the education sector, pledging to continue giving his best and encouraging fellow teachers to remain committed to shaping the future of their pupils.
