The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving and promoting traditional medicine practices as part of efforts to enhance the health and well-being of residents across the state.
This assurance was given by the Chairman of the Edo State Traditional Medicine Board (TMB), High Chief (Dr.) Abudu Ugbesia Godwin, during a certificate presentation ceremony held at his office in the Edo State Secretariat, Benin City.
High Chief Ugbesia explained that the certificate was presented to Mrs. Modinatu Aliyu in recognition of her role as the Woman Leader of the Edo State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP).
He commended Mrs. Aliyu for her dedication and outstanding contributions to the advancement of traditional medicine practice in Edo State, describing her leadership as invaluable to the profession. He stressed that traditional medicine remains an important component of healthcare delivery, noting that roots and herbs are natural resources for healing. According to him, strengthening traditional medicine practice will complement orthodox medicine and improve access to affordable healthcare for residents.
In her response, Mrs. Aliyu expressed appreciation to the TMB chairman and board members for the honour. She pledged her continued loyalty and commitment to promoting unity, professionalism and continuous improvement in traditional medicine practice across the state.
