LASU Warns Against Unauthorised Use of Campuses for Content Creation

The Lagos State University (LASU) has issued a warning over the increasing unauthorised use of its campuses and facilities for content creation activities, particularly by students, stressing that prior approval must be obtained before such activities are carried out.

In a statement issued on Friday, December 12, 2025, the university management said that while LASU supports creativity and responsible self-expression, some of the content being produced on campus has been offensive, inappropriate, and inconsistent with the institution’s values.

The statement read in part:
“While the University encourages creativity and responsible self-expression, it has become evident that some content being produced is offensive, inappropriate, and misrepresents the values and image of the institution. Such materials have the potential to cause reputational damage and undermine the integrity of the University as a citadel of learning and character development.”

To preserve the sanctity of the university environment as a centre for knowledge, research, and innovation, the management directed that anyone intending to engage in cinematographic or audiovisual activities on any LASU campus must henceforth obtain prior approval from the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), located on the 3rd Floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo.

The directive covers the recording or production of videos such as skits, vox pops, short films, promotional content, and any other audiovisual materials within university premises, including hostels and other affiliated facilities.

The university also prohibited the use of drones within its environment without formal authorisation from the Security Department, citing safety, privacy, and security concerns for members of the university community.
