Ogun SUBEB Boss Urges Pupils to Prioritise Education as Japanese Firms Donate School Materials
The Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Joshua Ifede, on Wednesday, urged pupils across the state to prioritise their studies and avoid distractions.
He urged them to build a reputable future by taking advantage of collaborative efforts aimed at boosting access to quality education in the state, reiterating the state government’s commitment to partnering with corporate organisations and public-spirited individuals to further develop the education sector.
Ifede stated this during the presentation of 13,500 exercise books, 750 chairs and desks, as well as 200 cartons of Geisha products, in Abeokuta, donated by JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation to schoolchildren across the state.
He commended the food company for its continued investment in the future of Nigerian children, saying its vision aligns with the state government’s commitment to providing qualitative and affordable education.
He said, “Through this initiative, our esteemed partners have graciously donated 500 chairs, 250 desks, and 13,500 branded 60-page exercise books, as well as 200 cartons of Geisha products, to enhance teaching and learning across schools in Ogun State. This generous contribution goes far beyond the provision of materials; it represents a tangible investment in the future of our children, who are the leaders of tomorrow. It is particularly noteworthy that this marks the eighth consecutive intervention by JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation in support of Ogun SUBEB.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Kawasho Foods Corporation, Mr Akira Yano, said the gesture was part of the organisation’s commitment to supporting the development of the education sector.
Yano said, “Kawasho Foods has a strong interest in education, as we believe it has a positive relationship with economic growth and development. We have been contributing towards educational advancement at various levels in Nigeria.”
He explained that the donations were part of the company’s 2025 corporate social responsibility initiative, aimed at supporting selected schools across Ogun State.
Yano added that although Kawasho Foods began operations in Japan 114 years ago, it expanded to Nigeria over 70 years ago, expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their continued patronage and support.
