The immediate past Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area (BLCDA), Kolade Alabi, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Somolu Federal Constituency seat in Lagos State.
The primary election was conducted across the 12 wards in the Somolu Federal Constituency, with the results officially announced on Saturday at the APC Secretariat in Somolu, Lagos.
Declaring the outcome of the exercise, the Returning Officer for Somolu Local Government, Adebayo Ajisebutu, confirmed that Alabi polled the highest number of votes cast during the keenly contested primary election.
Ajisebutu disclosed that three aspirants participated in the contest for the party’s ticket to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives election.
According to the results announced, Alabi secured 23,690 votes to defeat Rotimi Olowo, who polled 877 votes, while Afusat Mojisola recorded no vote.
The returning officer subsequently declared Alabi winner of the APC primary election, stating that he satisfied all the necessary requirements and obtained the highest number of valid votes cast during the exercise.
Ajisebutu commended party members, delegates, and electoral officials for ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and transparent conduct of the primary election across the constituency.
Among officials and party leaders present during the declaration were Bashiru Idowu, Independent National Electoral Commission representative Folashade Olayanju, Assistant Electoral Officer Omolara Adekoya, APC electoral officers, Apex Leader Anthony Adefuye, and other party stakeholders.
