‘A Cocktail of Ignorance’: Lagos APC Slams Atiku Camp over Comment On Tinubu’s Pardon Decision
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted recent remarks made by an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing them as “a cocktail of ignorance, frustration, and political bitterness.”
In a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the party was reacting to comments by Atiku’s aide who criticised what he termed a “pardon U-turn” by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Oladejo said the opposition’s interpretation of the president’s action reflected “a shallow understanding of governance dynamics,” stressing that Tinubu’s decisions are guided by due process, rule of law, and national interest.
He noted that unlike the opposition’s “impulsive and uninformed commentary,” Tinubu’s leadership style reflects consultation, constitutional discipline, and institutional maturity, qualities he said define credible governance in advanced democracies.
The Lagos APC spokesman also took aim at Atiku’s political record, describing him as “trapped in a bygone political era” and “disconnected from today’s realities,” adding that repeated electoral defeats had rendered him politically irrelevant.
Oladejo alleged that Atiku lacked the moral standing to question Tinubu’s leadership, accusing the former vice president of “endless defections, internal party sabotage, and judicial tourism,”.
He urged Nigerians to ignore what he termed “hollow press tantrums” from the opposition, saying Tinubu remains focused on strengthening institutions and delivering on governance reforms.
Oladejo concluded that Nigeria was “moving forward” under Tinubu’s leadership, despite what he called “the political tantrums of defeated politicians.”
