Northern PDP Leaders Endorse Ex-Minister Turaki as Consensus Candidate for National Chairman

Ahead of the party’s convention slated for November in Ibadan, the Northern stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN as the consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman.
The decision emerged from intensive consultations at a meeting of Northern PDP leaders in Abuja on Wednesday night.
The leaders who addressed the media declared Turaki as their consensus candidate.
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who led the stakeholders to address the media, noted that any aspirant unsatisfied with the decision is free to contest.
The endorsement follows a weekend gathering of Northern PDP leaders, where the chairmanship slot was zoned to the North-West geopolitical zone to promote regional balance and party cohesion.
It would be recalled that former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, ex-Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, and Turaki were locked in a keen contest for the chairmanship position.
