Lagos Grassroots Politicians Launch ‘Progressives Group’ to Drive Social Reforms, Defend APC Policies

Some youths in Lagos State have unveiled a new political movement known as The Progressives Group, aimed at advocating social reforms and promoting the equitable distribution of democratic dividends across the state.
Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, the Chairman of the group, Shakiru Agiyon Wusu, and its Publicity Secretary, Prince Adewale Samson, said the initiative is dedicated to the continuous progress and development of Lagos State.
According to them, the group was formed primarily to promote, project, and defend the programmes, policies, and agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the state and national levels.
“We have chosen an auspicious day like today to officially launch The Progressives Group and present our agenda to the media and the general public,” the leaders stated.
“As the name suggests, we are advocates for social reforms, domiciled in Lagos and committed to the continuous progress of the state. Our mission is to ensure the advancement and equitable distribution of democratic dividends to the good people of this state of aquatic splendour,” they added.
The group described itself as a body of young, grassroots-oriented politicians who have been active participants in Lagos politics for over three decades.
Reaffirming its commitment to the state’s development, the group said it would proffer solutions to emerging challenges while supporting government policies.
“We will deploy our experiences, gathered over the years, to achieve a better and more prosperous Lagos State. Going forward, we will hold quarterly interventions on political issues. We have a vision of a transformative and progressive Lagos, and we believe leadership is the capacity to translate that vision into reality,” the statement concluded.
