Lagos Council Manager, Adebimpe Akinola, Dies Days After Somolu Councillor’s Death

Barely, 7 days after the death of the elected councillor for Ward F in Somolu Local Government, Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan, the Council Manager of Coker Aguda LCDA in Lagos State, Mrs Adebimpe Akinola, has died late Monday, 29 September 2025, after brief illness.
Her death was announced by the Forum of Council Managers in a post made on their platform.
The Forum stated in its post that, “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing away of our dear Chairman, Mrs Adebimpe Akintola, this afternoon. Monday, 29th September, 2025.
“She was the council manager, Coker/ Aguda LCDA, until her death.”
The Forum also disclosed that the deceased CM would be buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday, 30 September 2025.
Janazah Prayer will be held at Al Kitab Mosque, Abosede Onamade Street, near Otunba’s House, Eleshin, after Zuhr Prayer around 1:00 PM, while the burial will be at the Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara, by 2:00 pm.

In a statement posted on the Facebook page of Coker/Aguda LCDA, the Council Chairman, Ogidan Azeez, had expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Council Manager, describing her as “a pillar of dedication, professionalism, and humility, whose warmth and tireless commitment to service left an indelible mark on the Council and the wider community.”
He noted that her demise was a painful loss not only to Coker-Aguda LCDA but also to all who benefitted from her selfless service and exemplary leadership.
Mrs Akinola’s death is the fifth death of female local government officials within two months of inaugurating the present administration at the Lagos councils on Sunday, 27 July 2025. She was also the Chairman of the Forum of Council Managers in Lagos State.
It would be recalled that on 13 August 2025, Oluwakemi Rufai, elected Councillor for Ward C in Ibeju Lekki Local Government, died barely two weeks after her inauguration.
Five days later, on 18 August 2025, another female elected councillor, Zainab Shotayo, elected councillor for Ward C in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, died.
On Saturday, 20 September 2025, Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose, Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, died, while the elected councillor for Ward F in Somolu Local Government.
