PHOTOS: Distribution Of Voting Materials To All Units Ongoing As Rivers LG Election Begins

Movement of sensitive materials is ongoing at the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) office in Port Harcourt, in preparation for the Local Government elections in the state.

The state is peaceful and security top notch, with residents waiting for the commencement of the poll.

The usually busy East-West road by Rumuosi in Obio/Akpor LGA is deserted at about 7:30 am, with only a few pedestrians on foot and a handful of vehicles, believed to be transporting election officials.

Elekahia Road in Obio/Akpor LGA has been turned into a football ground by some youths.
Residents in the 23 local government areas will cast their votes in the council election, which is scheduled to be held across 6,866 polling units.

Distribution of non-sensitive materials to all units in Ward 17 is also ongoing at Elekahia Primary School in Port Harcourt LGA.
