..says Ministry holds untapped potential for revenue generation
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ondo State, Afolabi Adesoji, has pledged to give the Ministry a facelift after a comprehensive tour of its departments and facilities.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adeyemi O. Sule, on Tuesday, the Commissioner assessed the state of key infrastructures within the Ministry, expressing both concern over their present condition and optimism about their vast potential to contribute to the state’s internally generated revenue.
Adesoji lauded the historical and artistic richness of the collections in the Art gallery, emphasizing the need for modernization to attract wider public interest.
He highlighted possibilities such as digital exhibitions, themed tours, student outreach programs, and collaboration with private collectors as avenues to transform the museum into a major tourism attraction.
“The Museum holds immense cultural and educational value. With strategic upgrades and promotion, it can become a must-visit location for both local and international audiences,” he noted.
Meanwhile, at the Adegbemile Cultural Centre, located within the Ministry complex, the Commissioner expressed disappointment over the underutilization and poor state of the facility but was quick to point out its enormous potential.
