NNPCL’s Soneye Wins 2025 NIPR Spokesperson Of The Year Award (Oil& Gas Category)
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Olufemi Soneye has been honored with the prestigious 2025 Spokesperson of the Year Award by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Widely respected for his strategic insight and innovative approach to public relations, Soneye emerged as the top choice among a competitive pool of industry leaders. Other notable nominees included Mr. Igo Weli of Shell, Mr. Osagie Edward of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the Nigeria Police Force’s Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and Mr. Olumuyiwa Akande of Sifax Group.
Soneye’s recognition follows his earlier victory in the Distinguished Spokesperson (Oil and Gas) category, reinforcing his continued excellence in communication and public engagement since 2024. The NIPR adjudication panel lauded his crisis communication expertise, strategic messaging, and ability to influence public perception, describing him as a “diligent strategist.”
The award was officially presented during the National Spokespersons Award 2025 ceremony by Hon. Joshua Audu Gana, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Power.
In his remarks, Hon. Gana praised Soneye’s exceptional contributions to the field of public relations and affirmed that the NIPR would celebrate him throughout 2025 as the reigning Spokesperson of the Year.
In his acceptance speech, Soneye expressed gratitude to his team at NNPCL, stating that the recognition is a testament to their collective hard work and dedication. “This award reflects the commitment and resilience of the entire communications team at NNPCL. I’m honored to receive it on their behalf,” he said.
As he handed over the award plaque, Hon. Gana remarked, “On behalf of the NIPR Award Night 2025, I have the honour and privilege to present the Spokesperson of the Year 2025 to you. Congratulations.”
The accolade cements Olufemi Soneye’s status as a leading voice in public relations and a model for excellence in corporate communications across Nigeria and beyond.
