The workers of the state-owned media, including the Lagos Television (LTV), Radio Lagos, Eko FM, and Traffic Radio, have suspended their three-day warning strike after a meeting with government representatives.
It would be recalled that the Lagos media staff began a 3-day warning strike on Monday, demanding to be included in the State’s structured payment system.
A joint statement signed by Olutayo Ogunbowale, Secretary of the Special Joint Congress comprising the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union (RATTAWU) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said the workers expressed gratitude to members for their support during the strike.
“We appreciate your prayers and cooperation during the three-day warning strike. Today, we met with the Commissioners for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, and Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, as well as Permanent Secretaries and General Managers of the state-owned media,” Ogunbowale said.
According to the statement, the workers presented their demands during the meeting, which were extensively discussed. It was resolved that their grievances would be tabled before Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the State Executive Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2025.
