LASG Announces Plans To Unveil Bill Payment Portal

In a bid to enhancing the efficiency and convenience of revenue collection, the Lagos State Government has announced the plan to launch the Lagos Revenue Project (LRP).
This initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, marks a milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to modernize its financial systems.
At a press parley held on Thursday, key stakeholders were introduced to the new Bill Payment Portal, an innovative platform designed to simplify the process of non-tax payments for residents and corporate entities across Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser on Taxation to the Lagos State Government, Hon. Abdul-Kabir Opeyemi Ogungbo, emphasized the Governor’s commitment to making life easier for Lagosians.
He noted that the Bill Payment Portal is in alignment with the Governor’s THEMES Plus agenda aimed at improving the quality of life for all residents.
The platform, scheduled to be officially launched on Thursday, August 15, 2024, by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is expected to revolutionize the way bills are paid across the state.
“The Bill Payment Portal represents a significant leap towards modernizing our bill payment collection system.
“It will streamline the collection process, making it more user-friendly, accessible, and secure for all Lagosians.
“The portal aggregates all bills and payments across the state’s ministries, departments, and agencies, providing a one-stop shop for residents to manage and pay their bills. Payments can be made online through various channels, including card payments, bank transfers, USSD, POS, and QR codes, eliminating the need for physical visits to service points or bank branches”, he stated.
Ogungbo highlighted several features of the portal, including secure and seamless payment processing, instantaneous automated revenue receipts, and the ability to manage and print bills from the comfort of one’s home or office.
According to him, the platform also offers easy payer registration, payment amendments, and reversal requests, which significantly reduces errors and disputes in the transaction process.
He added “The Bill Payment Portal is designed to safeguard payers’ money, ensuring that funds are directed to the appropriate government coffers for developmental projects. This is a significant step towards promoting transparency, efficiency, and growing revenue for the state.”
According to him, the portal also provides users with a comprehensive view of their payment history, accessible via both web and mobile application channels. This user-friendly platform is scalable and robust, allowing for seamless integration with current and future technologies while maintaining data privacy and integrity.
He added “The Lagos Revenue Portal is set to transform revenue collection and administration in Lagos State. By providing a secure, efficient, and user-friendly platform, the government aims to enhance compliance, improve service delivery, and ultimately contribute to the state’s development.
“The launch of the Bill Payment Portal is a testament to the Lagos State Government’s dedication to innovation and progress, ensuring that residents can fulfill their civic responsibilities with ease and convenience”.
