The Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has reaffirmed its partnership with the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) to strengthen tourism development in the state.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, during a visit from the NANTA Western Zone delegation to his office. Dr. Olatubosun emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding tourism activities and collaboration with stakeholders.
He noted that the ministry’s programmes have grown significantly, increasing from 80 in 2024 to 130 in 2025. Many of these initiatives were supported by private groups and corporate organizations rather than solely by the state government.
Highlighting examples of successful events, Dr. Olatubosun cited the “December Vibing” programme held last year as a demonstration of how partnerships have enhanced tourism and cultural engagement in the state.
The Commissioner praised the NANTA executives as a team of intellectuals and acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing leadership. He also assured the delegation of the ministry’s support for the association’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Dr. Olatubosun explained that the ministry would provide support through the Akede Asa Media Crew to livestream the AGM events, ensuring broad publicity. He dedicated the award he received from NANTA to Governor Seyi Makinde and the ministry’s management team.
On behalf of NANTA, the Western Zone Vice Chairman, Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, lauded Dr. Olatubosun as the most supportive commissioner in the state’s history of tourism promotion. He revealed that Oyo State will host the association’s AGM and 50th anniversary celebration from April 15 to 18, 2026, with about 500 members expected to attend.
Deputy Chairman Dr. Olatokunbo Dagunduro described Dr. Olatubosun as a creative and innovative leader whose initiatives have set Oyo State apart in tourism development. The delegation presented an award to the commissioner in recognition of his contributions to promoting the state’s cultural heritage and tourism sector.
