The lawmaker representing Kosofe State Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Saheed, has declared his readiness to seek a second term, expressing confidence that his performance would earn him another term.
Saheed made this known, while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of his declaration of interest held at his residence in the Agiliti area of Kosofe.
He noted that his experience in office has reinforced his belief that public service is a call to serve humanity.
“When I came into office, I realised that lawmaking is a call from God. It is about serving the people selflessly, often at the expense of personal comfort. But when you give your best and the people appreciate your efforts, that alone is fulfilling,” he said.
Recalling his legislative journey, Saheed said that he entered office with a strong passion to improve governance and positively impact his constituency.
Speaking on his achievements, the lawmaker listed several infrastructural and social interventions facilitated during his first term, adding “Within this period, I facilitated the construction of 12 roads, attracted a 1,200-capacity FIFA-standard stadium to the constituency, and supported the rebuilding of schools, including one in Odo Ogun, which is now among the best in Lagos State.
“I also introduced student shuttle buses, transporting over 650,000 students daily across key routes, and facilitated water projects in areas like OPIC Isheri Estate,” he said.
Saheed added that he has supported education through the distribution of over 1,000 JAMB forms, scholarships, bursaries, and the provision of school furniture, adding “I also launched initiatives such as the Hon. Femi Saheed Medical Programme and Food Palliative Scheme to support vulnerable residents. Beyond that, I have helped many graduates secure employment in government agencies”.
On infrastructure, he noted that previously abandoned projects, including the Ketu-Alapere-Demurin Road, were completed through his intervention.
Speaking on political developments in the constituency, Saheed advised against attempts to impose candidates, insisting that due process should be encouraged, saying “We are ready for a fair primary election. Gone are the days when candidates would be imposed on the people. We are not afraid of competition, but it must be based on credibility, character, and track record”.
“Our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains a father to all, and his name should not be used to impose candidates. Let there be fairness and transparency,” he said.
