Just In: Tinubu Meets Bill Gates, Dangote Ahead Of Summit On New Global Financing Pact In France

President Bola Tinubu Monday afternoon will host Microsoft founder and one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates at the State House, Abuja.

Bill Gates Foundation is supporting a number of projects including healthcare and vaccination in Nigeria and across Africa.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, two days ago, after an audience with President Tinubu, revealed the planned meeting with his co-philantrophist to State House Correspondents.

Dangote, however, didn’t reveal the purpose of the scheduled meeting with President Tinubu but it may not be unconnected with Bill Gates projects in Nigeria and how to advance them.

The American billionaire is at the forefront of promoting vaccines production and deployment after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. He has also been advocating that developing countries like Nigeria should spend more money on human capital development instead of hard infrastructure, a position that has been largely criticised by many policy markers.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu will travel to Paris on Tuesday evening to attend a global summit on New Global Financing Pact convened by President Emmanuel Macron.

The summit will hold from June 22-23. President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja on Saturday after the summit.
