Anambra Poll: “Obidient Movement Has Collapsed”- Lagos APC Mocks Obi’s Defeat At Polling Unit
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to reports that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, lost his polling unit to the APC in the just concluded Anambra governorship election.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC described the development as a “public humiliation” and “loud confirmation” that Obi’s political influence had waned.
According to Oladejo, the outcome of the vote in Obi’s polling unit demonstrated that the “Obidient movement” was “a political hologram, bright on social media but empty in real life.”
“Today, the people who know Peter Obi best — his neighbours, his own community, his supposed natural base — have delivered an unmistakable judgment. A man who cannot win his polling unit has no business dreaming of winning a country. A man rejected on his street cannot claim nationwide acceptance.”the statement read.
The Lagos APC spokesperson said the defeat marked “the complete disintegration of the myth around Peter Obi,” accusing the former Anambra governor of building his political brand on “manufactured statistics and emotional manipulation.”
Oladejo contrasted Obi’s political trajectory with that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he credited with “rebuilding institutions, expanding infrastructure, and attracting foreign investments.”
The statement further urged Obi to “spare the nation further melodrama” and focus on “repairing the political damage at his doorstep” before aspiring for higher office in 2027.
Oladejo concluded that the APC’s victory in Obi’s polling unit was “symbolic, conclusive, and prophetic,” reflecting what he called the “national mood where performance is triumphing over propaganda.”
As of press time, Peter Obi and the Labour Party were yet to respond to the statement.
