The Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Justice, Barrister Priscilla Aziegbemhin, has pledged zero tolerance for unethical practices and any actions capable of undermining the course of justice, charging staff to discharge their duties with zeal, integrity, and professionalism.
Aziegbemhin made the pledge during a meeting with management and staff of the ministry held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), Benin City. She noted that the Ministry of Justice must serve as a model institution in upholding the rule of law, urging staff to demonstrate diligence and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Similarly, the Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Roland Otaru (SAN), charged staff to embrace professionalism and hard work to achieve the ministry’s vision of effective and transparent service delivery in all legal matters involving the state government.
In his address, Prof. Otaru introduced the GOSPA framework — Goal, Objectives, Strategy, Priority, and Action — as a performance model to guide the ministry’s operations.
He explained that the ministry’s goal is to strengthen its workforce and enhance service delivery; its objectives include setting clear priorities and supporting management functions; while its strategy involves implementing measures to improve internal work processes.
According to him, identifying priorities and taking concrete actions are key to achieving the ministry’s overall objectives.
Prof. Otaru reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the ministry is already improving critical areas such as its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems. He also stressed the importance of teamwork and innovation in promoting efficiency.
The meeting provided a platform for staff to exchange ideas and make recommendations. They commended the Attorney General and the Permanent Secretary for their leadership and pledged renewed commitment to achieving the ministry’s mandate, vision, and goals.
