A Nigerian journalist and Western Post reporter, Oyelola Adeola, has been nominated for the Editor’s Choice category at the 2025 Hammond House International Literary Prize for her short story, Unbroken Friendship.

Adeola, who has covered Lagos State Government activities for Western Post—a leading online newspaper—for over a decade, earned the recognition among a highly competitive pool of international entries.

The Editor’s Choice category typically highlights outstanding submissions from overseas writers to the United Kingdom, showcasing exceptional literary talent from across the globe.

In a letter addressed to her by Jessica Johnson, Project Manager of the literary prize, Adeola was confirmed as one of the Editor’s Choice selections, emerging from a record number of exceptional entries received from five continents.

The anthology for the 2025 Hammond House International Literary Prize was unveiled at the Hammond House Literary Festival, held at University Centre Grimsby in February 2026.
