Eno Unveils New Jetty, Airbus Delivery Plans Ahead Of Oluremi Tinubu’s Visit To Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno, has announced that the State Geriatric Centre, also known as the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre, will be commissioned by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

The governor made the disclosure at the March edition of the Government House Monthly Covenant Service, noting that the event will form part of activities marking the First Lady’s first official visit to the state. The visit will also feature the grand finale of the ongoing women sensitisation and mobilisation tour.

Eno said the centre, located on the ARISE Medical Corridor along the Uyo–Ikot Ekpene Road, is equipped with a health facility and relaxation areas to cater to senior citizens aged 65 and above. He commended women in the state for their participation in the sensitisation and economic empowerment programme and conveyed the First Lady’s goodwill to them.

The governor thanked attendees at the covenant service, stressing that the state is embarking on key strategic projects that require prayers for divine guidance and timely completion.

On infrastructure, he disclosed that a new jetty is under construction in Oron to revitalise commercial activities, while projects are ongoing across the three senatorial districts. Preliminary works have commenced at the Ikot Ekpene International Market ahead of full construction.

Eno also announced that the state will take delivery of two new Airbus aircraft this year to boost Ibom Air’s fleet, adding that upgrade works are ongoing at the Victor Attah International Airport in preparation for international flights scheduled to begin in April.

He further announced that the state congress of the All Progressives Congress will hold on March 3, 2026, and called for active participation. Eno also sought prayers for his administration, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his sermon titled “El-Shaddai,” Pastor Umar Idris Enoch urged believers to trust in God, assuring them that divine purpose will always prevail.
